pipe spec stickers

spec stickers are another area of bike fetishism.
pipe spec stickers are a sub-genre of the above.
you can keep your Tange—
is 900 even worth bragging about?—
and your Reynolds, Columbus et al.
you know which is my favourite...

aero brake madness

I'd never really messed around with aero brakes before
being an old-fashioned kind of cyclist.
quite fascinating, like most bike technology
experimenting again with a flat curved bar and drop bar levers.
by the lack of bar tape you'll surmise that I'm not sold yet.
wish there was a rubber grip that long
track grips are still a bit short

it's all in the script

this is cool

this is naff.

105 low flange - meh

the title says it all.
nice but.

600 freewheel

no granny gears here
just hardcore extra-close racer ratios.
the 600 sprockets have a lovely
champagne finish
bit like an 80s Marantz portable cassette player

105 cont'd

this view looks kind of cool.
maybe it's just the leather saddle.
or the fence/shed/sloping shoulders of the photographer.

tange seiki levin

I believe these are a mid spec headset
but really nice nonetheless
really like those sloping shoulders
and the satin finish of the alloy on the 105 calipers

Biopace does my head in

does anyone else find that?

thank God they were designed by a computer though.
those things are great!
they can do so much these days on computers.

really nice brakes

Gemini Club 105

swapped the Shogun for this on the weekend.
you be the judge of which is the better bike*...
interesting how the Gemini has such lovely gear on it
but the frame is just not a patch on an Aerospace.
it just feels dead.
the swap is not quite final so I will hold off on any lasting changes
but
I would keep the
wheels
brakes (probably the nicest bit of kit on the bike)
forks (nice sloping shoulders, would come up a treat electroplated)
headset
seat post
derailleur
and sell the frame, crankset and BB.

*the Shogun is the better ride BTW
